October 10, 2925 from the itinerary: Hike 21 KM from Gernika to Lezama. The hotel, Casa Rural Miamende is in Larrabetzu and off the route. October 9, 2025 - Walk 23 km to Gernika. We continued to stay inland on our way to Gernika. The weather was again quite good for most of the way, until we actually entered Gernika and it started to rain. We got picked up to be taken to the hotel Casa Rural Astobieta Gernika which was off trail again. Breakfast was pretty traditional. October 7 and 8, 2025. Now the path turns away from the coast for a few days. The Hotel Antsotegi is off the path, about a mile on the other side of Markina. We are pretty fed up with hotels that add mileage to an already long day and today was another example of this. To cut out some of the mileage, I mapped a short cut that was almost a disaster. October 3, 2025 - from the itinerary - walk along the coast of Spain from San Sebastian to Zarautz for 2 nights. Cheated a bit by using the elevator to start the big uphill of the day.
